UNASUR Council Meets In Guyana For Budget Discussions
The Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) council of delegates are meeting in Guyana over the next two days to discuss the structure and budget for the General Secretariat. The newly appointed Secretary General believes that there is a need for more focused attention on the institutional structure of the general secretariat which will be located in Ecuador.
She said the support by UNASUR’s heads of government has been overwhelming and discussions are being held to work out the best possible plan for financing the secretariat.
The Officials from the twelve member states will examine the various proposals as it relates to the staffing structure and regulations for the functioning of the secretariat along with a budget for its operations. The outcome of this Meeting will be then submitted to the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs for their consideration.
