GPL to Start Using New Generating Sets By August
By august of this year, the Guyana power and light company will put into use those two new generating sets and the company’s capacity should receive an almost immediate boost. The company has been plagued with a number of problems with its generating sets and hope is that some of those problems will be put on the back burner now. GPL Chief Executive Bharrat Dindyal.
Dindyal further explained that the company this year is continuing a massive restructuring programme that will see several changes and improvements to the power supply.
Just this week several parts of the city were shut down and left without power for hours after problems popped up at the Kingston power plant. GPL claimed that it was a rat that made its way into the equipment and caused that power shut-down.
