Youth Challenge Guyana Launches its Women’s Entrepreneurship Programme
Youth Challenge Guyana over the weekend launched its Women’s Entrepreneurship Programme which will see 50 participants being trained. The new initiative seeks to provide women with the necessary skills and knowledge to start up a new business or improve their existing business.
Programme Officer, Amanda Armstrong said the programme will create a network of female entrepreneurs that will work together within Georgetown. She noted that women in society face numerous challenges including lack of education, low self esteem and domestic violence which in many cases prevent them from participating in economic activities.
One participant who operates a bar said she has been in the field for three years and hopes that the programme could help her to deal with some of the many challenges that she encounters on a daily basis.
The training will cover the introduction to entrepreneurship and business management that will be done in two separate batches over the course of nine days and will conclude on May 22.
