AFC Confident of Winning Upcoming Elections
The alliance for change is not too worried about Donald Ramotar being chosen as the Presidential candidate for the ruling PPP. In fact the AFC believes ramotar as a candidate will be to the AFC’s advantage. AFC Presidential Candidate Khemraj Ramjattan believes the PPP only made an exchange not a change. In an interview with me today at his North Road Law Office, Ramjattan said he is not bothered by the attacks coming from President Jagdeo. At Sunday’s PPP demerara conference, the president described Ramjattan as an ignorant man. Ramjattan said he has come to expect little more from the president.
The AFC is confident that it will do better at this years elections. The party which was launched just over 5 yrs ago in time for the last elections won 5 parliamentary seats at the elections. But the President has been heaping up attacks on Ramjattan who is a former member of parliament for the PPP and a former executive committee member. Ramjattan makes it clear that the President dare not raise the issue of morality with him.
But the President attacks on the AFC Presidential candidate came just a week after he embraced the AFC Leader Raphael Trotman at a gospel concert and the two forgave each other for their wrongdoings against each other. Ramjattan said the president needs to do more to account for what he has done to the nation under his watch.
As the elections are slated to take place before the end of this year, the political parties have gone into full campaign mode. The AFC was the first party to announce its presidential candidate and the first to officially hit the campaign trail.
