AFC Protests Against NCN for Refusing to Air their Adds
The Alliance for Change today staged a peaceful picketing exercise just outside the National Communication Network Channel 11 on Homestretch Avanue. The AFC took this step since the television station on numerous occasions denied the party from airing its advertisements on that station.
AFC said during the last general elections the party was denied the chance to air its programs and infomercials on the station and will not allow this to repeat itself once more.
Just recently the party approached the state own entity to air an advertisement since it has the widest broadcast reach compared to other private channels. NCN rejected the advertisement after it realised it was from the AFC.
The Alliance for Change claimed that it was charged triple the usual price for advertisements aired during the 2006 elections campaign.
NCN’s Programme Manager, Martin Goolsarran in a press statement said he is convinced that the AFC is scratching for some publicity. He noted that there is standard procedure and it has been applied to all of its clients including government agencies and NGO’s. Goolsarran said with the recent advertisement the company found it to be baseless and did not allow it to be aired.
