GRA Seizes Equipment From Didco
The Guyana Revenue Authority moved into today through the High Court, and seized several pieces of equipment belonging to the Didco trading company for taxes owed. The court levy came as a result of a high court ruling and sources say it was a case that began well over 3 years ago. Capitol news understands that DIDCO owes the revenue authority well over 50 million dollar and that figure could easily swell to over 100 million.
Employees of Didco were shocked by the move today as they seemed unaware of even the court action that was taken. Some of the employees even complained that they had no idea that the company was facing such problems. Didco which has at least 2 other companies under its umbrella is believed to have over 400 staff members.
Didco’s CEO was no where in sight during the move, but another official who was on scene made it clear that the action was against Didco trading and now KFC Pizza Hut which falls under the Didco umbrella. He said he was not shown the court order.
Capitol News made a number of efforts to contact the company’s CEO. Among the items seized were high powered generators, computers, office furniture and other equipment, refrigerators and a long list of other equipment owned by the company.
