Grove Residents Calling For Fire Station To Be Established In The Area

[bitsontherun iaS8QTm4]
Residents of Grove on the East Bank of Demerara are now calling for a fire station to be established in the area saying it is unacceptable then whenever fire strikes along the east bank corridor, the fire service response would always have to come from the city. The residents call comes in wake of Saturday’s devastating fire at Grove which gutted 4 buildings and scorched 2 others. The fire began at a Chinese restaurant and quickly spread to the nearby buildings. Residents say it took the fire service a while to respond since they had to come all the way from Georgetown.

As this video provided to capitol news shows, even after the fire service arrived it took the firemen a while to find water sources, while they searched, the fire raged on and residents are convinced some of the buildings could have been saved.

Over 20 persons have been displaced by the fire and at least 3 businesses were completely destroyed. And there are millions more in damages.
