Water Woes At UG
A water situation on the Turkeyen Campus of the University of Guyana today prompted the suspension of classes. When this newscast visited, there was no water flowing through the pipes and many of the toilet facilities were left in a deplorable state because of the lack of water for more than four days.
Alexander said at the moment the well situated on the campus is not functioning- a situation that has been reported to GWI. He said that while the water company has given its assurances of getting water back on the campus, alternative arrangements have since been made.
Meanwhile members of the student body said they are no longer willing to attend classes until GWI rectifies the problem. To them, this situation can bring about some serious health problems
CAPITOL News understands that the breakages in the mains also affected nearby communities.
Earlier this afternoon, GWI workers were seen fixing the problem.
