City Council To Select Town Clerk
Interviews to fill the vacancy of Town Clerk at the Georgetown Mayor and City Council wrapped up on Monday, leaving the council to make its final decision.
Five persons reportedly applied for the vacancy which was being advertised both internally and externally for close to a year .
However Capitol News has learnt that of the five persons, Public Relations Officer Royston King has been selected as the most suitable candidate by the council.
King is said to have gained the highest score in the interview while Town Clerk Acting Yonette Pluck got the second highest.
However the final decision is still left up to the Minister of Local Government Kellowan Lall to approve of the appointment. It is not clear how long this would take since Director of Solid Waste department Hubert Urling after two years is still awaiting for his appointment to be confirmed by the minister.
According to one councilor, King’s years of experience which spans more than 15 years working with the municipality coupled with his qualifications makes him the best person for the job.
King currently has masters in Corporate Communication and plans to pursue a PHD in Public Policy and Administration and Leadership studies in the UK.
