Mash 2011 Turnout Deemed Good!
Well the weatherman was certainly made wrong as the sun blazed down in all its glory for the Mashramani celebrations yesterday. Hundreds of spectators lined the church street route to get a glimpse of the float and costume parade.
Over at the Merriman’s mall several families and individuals used that general area to picnic, sell food and for children to have some fun and frolic.
The festivities were certainly enjoyed by the very young and the not so young who danced and gyrated to the booming sounds of soca music that blasted through the air.
Capitol news caught up with a few persons who said that this year’s parade was much better than the previous years- For some both in the quality of the costumes and the turn out of the spectators.
But on the other hand, there were those who believed that this year’s festivities were not as captivating as it ought to be. Some expressed their dissatisfaction with the quality of the costumes and floats on the road this year.
There were plans to move yesterday’s parade to Sunday after a heavy downpour of rain left several areas in the city under inches water. However a noticeable change in the weather on Tuesday prompted cabinet to advice on the going ahead of the original plans.
