New Caribbean Cook Book Released
Guyanese and Caribbean Columnist and Communications specialist Cynthia Nelson has taken her food choices and recipes onto the bookshelf with the release of her first cook book, TASTES LIKE HOME. The book brings together Guyanese and Caribbean dishes in sort of a long conversation about good food. The author said many of the advice and recipes contained in the book came from her weekly column in the newspapers and from her blog.
Nelson who now lives in Barbados said there is a yearning by Guyanese and other Caribbean nationals in the diaspora for a reminder of the good food they enjoyed at home, what she didn’t realize was that persons at home wanted the taste of home also.
The book was launched on Sunday at the Herdmanston Lodge at a brunch which featured some of the book’s recipes. It was a lot of hard work she admitted but already she is thinking of another book that will have a different focus on food.
In Guyana, Austin’s book store is the sole local distributor and Cynthia Nelson encourages food lovers sign onto her blog tastes like home.org for some extra tidbits on putting together that creative meal.
