Sacred Heart Church Turning Of The Sod Ceremony Making Way To Rebuild
Plans to rebuild the sacred heart church moved a step forward today, as parishioners gathered to witness the ceremonial turning of the sod on Main Street.
Turning the sod was his Lordship Bishop Francis Alleyne.
The ceremonial event will now make way for the construction of a new church building.
The destruction of the Church by fire on Christmas day in 2004 was said to be a severe blow for members of the Catholic community.
At present, the church is in the process of raising funds for the completion of the building.
Contributions can be made through the church’s account at Republic Bank-Acc # 268-496-7 or at New Building Society Account # 134769.
The total cost of the project is $84M.
