West Ruimveldt PTA Calls On HM To Resign
The Parent /Teachers Association of West Ruimveldt Primary School is now calling on the school’s headmistress to resign, saying that it has had enough.
These calls have been made just after the Headmistress claimed that she got orders from the Education Ministry stating that the PTA should be no more and that it is null and void.
In an interview with this newscast, President of the Association Eric Benjamin said that when he checked with the Ministry, it was discovered that nothing of the sort transpired as was claimed by the head teacher.
Benjamin however said that the PTA believes it is time for the Head teacher who took over the school just two years ago, to demit office, since there have always been issues of accountability and misuse of funds.
Benjamin stated that on several occasions, the Head teacher was asked to produce receipts for projects she said she carried out for the school, using monies raised by the PTA which she never did.
This, the man said was brought to the attention of the education Ministry back in December of last year and the head teacher was cautioned about handling of the school’s funds.
Under the leadership of previous head teachers, members of the PTA said they have not had any problems with accountability and misappropriations of funds. They also believe that the standards of the school have since then declined.
However when this newscast contacted the school’s headmistress, she refused to make any comment on the issue.
The PTA has again written the education ministry seeking its intervention and a meeting has since then been planned for next Monday by the ministry.
