MV Saga Pearl Docked In Guyana
The first cruise liner to dock on Guyana’s shores this year is the MV Saga Pearl 2, which made its way across the Atlantic and into the country on Sunday.
This is said to be one of four cruise ships that will be visiting the country during the year.
But even as the 352 passengers who were onboard the ship were greeted by the sounds of sweet steel pan music and received a warm welcome from the Guyanese tourism officials including the Minister of Tourism Manniram Prashad, some were not too pleased with the Georgetown welcome. One tourist said that the country needs to do a lot more investment if the country is to be showcased as a tourist destination.
However there were those who said that the country has a unique beauty and they were particularly eager to visit Guyana to get a glimpse of what it has to offer.
While in Guyana, those onboard were escorted on tours to down town Georgetown and the Kaieteur Falls.
The journey to Guyana and some 20 other destinations began in England.
