Children’s Mashramani Organizers Calling For Support From Business Community
Organizers of the children’s Mashramani competitions and float parade are once again calling on the business community to financially help schools with the preparation of their costumes. Activities have already started in some of the regions and will wrap up by February 11 making way for the finials slated for the 16th of this month.
According one of the organizers, businesses need to be more supportive of the schools that have expressed an interest in being part of this year’s competitions. She noted that the help is needed since the ministry alone can’t stand the expense of the various competitions.
The children’s Mashramani activities will end with the annual float parade slated for the 19th starting from the Parade Ground and ending at the National Park.
Children’s activities will include dance, masquerade, costume, calypso and dramatic poetry competitions. The coordinator noted discussions are being held with police to provide support in maintaining order at the various events.
