Junior Calypso Competition Kicks Off This Weekend
The young woman over the weekend will defend her crown as the Junior Calypso competition kicks off in the mining town of linden. DeFreitas said she can’t wait to thrill the judges with her performance.
The last year winner said her song titled “Can’t take it no more” is more on the soft side and she hopes persons would get the message as it speaks of the country and what is happening in today’s society. The lyric’s was composed by her manager.
The 19 year old believes calypso could use some more attention in being promoted and encourages other young people to enter the competition. She said music is her life and sees herself in the industry for as long as possible.
DeFreitas is among 13 contestants hoping to walk away with the 150 thousand dollar prize and the 2011 Junior Calypso crown. The competition which is slated for January 29 will start at 7pm at the Mc Kenzie Sports Club Ground.
