Agriculture Minister Defends Budget
Agriculture Minister, Robert Persaud is furious as the government comes under attack by opposition members as being corrupt. The minister during his budget presentation to the national assembly contested such claims coming from the opposite side of the house.
Persaud said the members of the opposition always seek to misrepresent the country’s progress.
Persaud stood his ground and stated that the administration is committed in dealing with corruption. He said all of governments records are made public in the Auditor General’s Report every year which proves some level of accountability and transparency by the administration.
The minister also highlighted the 4.6 percent projected growth of the economy which was outlined in the budget. He noted that the projection is ahead of what was set by the World Bank for the entire region.
Persaud in defense of this year’s budget said it can be described as a people’s budget because of the investments being made that will foster improvements in the welfare and development of citizens lives.
