President Worried About UK’s Interest In Local Elections

As Guyana gears up for elections, President Bharrat Jagdeo may not be in the running but is paying close attention. Today the president said he is concerned and worried that a senior British government official here would say that the British have a vested interest in the elections. He said while they could have an interest and offer help in critical areas, it is worrying for the British government to have A VESTED INTEREST in the internal affairs of this country. The president was referring to statements made by a British diplomat here recently.
