27th Meeting Of The Community Council Of Ministers To Address Issues Faced By Member States
The re-construction of Haiti after the 2010 quake has been among several matters placed on the table for discussion at the 27th meeting of the Community Council of Ministers, held today at the CARICOM Secretariat.
The one day meeting was also used as a forum to make preparations and arrangements for the 22nd inter- sessional meeting of the Conference of the Caribbean Community which is to be held in Grenada next month and to approve the work programme and budget of the CARICOM Secretariat.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Grenadian foreign Affairs Minister Denneth Modeste also pointed to the development of Information Communication Technology and its importance to the region.
Further, the council was expected to consider matters currently engaging the attention of the council for Human and Social Development (COSHOD) and the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED).Among the COSHOD issues discussed were, the establishment of a Regional Tertiary Education System; and the Caribbean Public Health Agency.
The community Council of Ministers is known as the second highest body in CARICOM and sitting on the council are Foreign Affairs ministers from the various CARICOM member states.
