Several stall holders close to the public road outside the La Penitence Market and on Sussex Streets will have to clear the way for the Public Works Ministry by Monday. On Friday the Public Works Minister along with senior staff visited the area to air mark the space required for the widening of the bridge.

Some stall holders will be placed inside the market while others will have to go beyond the boundaries marked by the ministry on Sussex Street. The public works ministry is hoping that persons would use the coming weekend to clear the area with Monday being the deadline. The Ministry is also willing to assist with the removal of stalls. Minister Benn told stall holders that the project being undertaken is long overdue as time is being wasted.

Several stall holders have since expressed concern over the removal since they have been making a livelihood at the market for a number of years. Meanwhile other stall holders beyond the point marked by the ministry have four months to find a new location.
