Technical Institutes To Assist With Furniture Shortage In Schools
For years shortage of furniture remained a big problem for many schools across the country. The Education Ministry is reporting that it is now looking at a way in which the technical institutes can assist to overcome this shortfall. The Ministry is hoping that this year furniture would not be a problem come September.
Education Minister Shaik Baksh believes by allowing the institutions to construct the furniture it could decrease the ministry’s dependency on private contractors.
Baksh pointed out that while the technical institutes will be making the furniture it could also be seen as a learning experience for the students.
The education minister is of the opinion that overcrowding of schools maybe a contributing factor to the inadequate furniture at schools. He said that 129 million dollars have been spent for the procurement of tools and equipment for all technical institutes.
