PNC Believes The Police Force Could Do A Whole Lot More To Tackle Crime
The national murder rate for this year so far has already surpassed last year’s total figure and cases of robberies and other violent crimes are also on the rise. The figures are worrying and Guyana’s main opposition party the PNC is very concerned and believes the security forces and the government need to do a whole lot more to tackle the situation before it becomes out of control.
The past few weekends have seen several violent crimes being committed and the Police force has been able to crack several cases and break up suspected gangs. So concerned is the police force that it intends further increase patrols across the city especially in areas seen as trouble some where it is believed criminal elements may be hiding out. But even that may not be enough to tackle the problem.
2010 so far has seen a number of drive by killings, brutal stabbing incidents and other murders. While the police force has been able to crack some cases, others have joined the unsolved mystery list.
