Artistes In Direct Support Hosts its Annual HIV Awareness Event, The Flame And The Ribbon
It was an evening of reflection and entertainment as Artistes in Direct Support hosted its annual HIV awareness event, the flame and the ribbon. Before the cultural part of the program, persons lit candles for those who would have died as a result of HIV/AIDS. A tribute was also dedicated to Keith Andre Sobryan who was a cofounder of Artistes in Direct Support.
The cultural presentation touched on the many social challenges faced by citizens especially those living with HIV/AIDS which was done through dance, song and dramatic presentations.
Artistes in Direct Support is a non–profit organization which promotes HIV/AIDS awareness through Performing Arts. The theme of the event was “imagine a life without HIV! The way we were”.
This year’s world AIDS day observances were focused on human rights and how individuals and civil society can take charge in ensuring that such rights are protected while the global targets for HIV and AIDS prevention, treatment and care are met.
