Business Owners Educated On Fire Prevention

The business community has turned its interest to fire prevention and what is needed to safe guard its assets from fire. The Guyana Fire Service in collaboration with the Private Sector and the Georgetown Chamber of commerce hosted a one day fire safety awareness seminar.

The seminar was aimed at highlighting the importance of fire safety also leading to a closer working relationship with the business community and the fire service. Some of the participants said based on the information received changes will be made at their businesses.

Participants were educated on fire safety as it relates to chemistry of combustion, fire prevention, evacuation procedures and fire extinguishers. A practical demonstration was also conducted with participants on the proper use of a fire extinguisher.

The fire service has recorded over sixteen hundred devastating fires across the country so far.
