A family of Block “R” Sophia is now preventing road workers from creating a passageway through their property in an effort to allow another neighbor access to the main street. The family said after the workers were stopped they were told that the orders came from the Ministry of Housing and Water, Central Housing and Planning Authority to create the passageway.

Natasha Brummell whose mother is the owner of the property recounted what had transpired on Monday morning since she was at a nearby shop.

Property owner, Grace Lindo said based on the housing plan for the area it shows that no passageway should be running thorough her yard and she has since expressed concern over the damages done to her property.

Currently two houses are on the property and the family has been living there for over 20 years and believes the matter could have been handled in a more professional manner.

October last the Ministry of Housing and Water signed a 24.7 Million dollar contract for the rehabilitation of a half-mile stretch of road in the area.
