Salvation Army Launches Its Annual Christmas Appeal
As the Christmas season approaches the Guyana Salvation Army launched its annual Christmas appeal which is aimed at raising funds in an effort to bring joy and cheer to the needy. The nongovernmental organization is once more seeking the assistance of the general public to meet its target of 8 million dollars.
Private Sector Commission, Chairman, Ramesh Dookhoo who was given the opportunity of launching the annual appeal highlighted the organizations attempt to help the less fortunate in society around the festive season.
Dookhoo also issued a call on the general public especially the business community to help the Salvation Army achieve its target for this year’s appeal.
The moneys generated by the Salvation Army is used to donate Christmas dinners, clothing, toys and Christmas hampers to families in need.
Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, Members of the Diplomatic Corp along and other persons made the first donations to the Salvation Army’s kettle.
