Chicken And Egg Prices To Remain Stable During The Festive Season
The Commerce Ministry and the Poultry Producers Association have reported that due to the current surplus of chicken and eggs on the local market no shortage is expected during the festive season.
Minister Manniram Prashad said no import license will be granted to import chicken since he has been assured that there is an adequate amount of supply to meet the consumers demand during this time.
President of the Poultry Producers Association Patrick DeGroot noted that citizens can be guaranteed that chicken prices will not increase.
The commerce minister is also encouraging citizens to purchase eggs early since it is expected during the week before Christmas prices tend to increase. The price of chicken is expected to remain between 280 to 320 dollars per pound.
