Collecting Pension Books Will Soon No Longer Be A Problem For Bedridden Pensioners
The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security will soon commence its distribution process for 2011 old age pension books. The process should begin before the end of November. The distribution process is being done early so that beneficiaries can receive their pension on the first working day of the coming year.
Director of Social Services, Wentworth Tanner said provisions are being made for pensioners who are bedridden. Officers will be charged with the responsibility of visiting such pensioners and presenting them with their new book since in previous years it was a problem for such persons.
Senior citizens who would have become 65 years old on or before September 30 are being encouraged to register with the ministry in order to receive this monthly assistance. Currently pensioners receive six thousand, six hundred dollars monthly. There are over 44 thousand pensioners in the system.
Permanent Secretary, Trevor Thomas in an invited comment said the ministry is trying to improve the system every year and is responsible for the smooth disbursement of pension books. He said the ministry will soon publish the necessary information as it relates to locations where pensioners could uplift their 2011 books.
The Ministry of Human Services also provides a water tariff waiver to pensioners.
