Rockstone Fish Festival Big Success
The fifth annual Rockstone Fish Festival was held over the weekend and was well attended by scores of persons. The event is held by the Rockstone Fish Festival Committee with support from the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce and the Guyana Tourism Authority.
Patrons were entertained with various events which started on Saturday such as sport fishing, guided tours to nearby islands in the River, fish-cooking competition among other activities.
On Sunday the curtains came down on the annual event as persons were awarded for their catch whether it was the Himara or the Lukunani fish. Rockstone’s Village Toshao, Rance Allicock said he is pleased with the positive response by the public. Allicock said every year the committee is working towards improving the annual event.
Meanwhile, November has been designated Tourism Awareness Month and several activates will be held by the Guyana Tourism Authority. This year’s observance is being held under the theme “community Based Tourism: Preserving the unique character and culture of communities.
