Man Charged With Murder After Slashing To Death Two Charlestown Residents
42 year old William Lyte appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry today and was charged with the murder of the two persons from the Charlestown community who were slashed to death last week in a gruesome incident. He was also charged with the attempted murder of two other persons.
The man who was believed to be of unsound mind went on a rampage killing Ann Cham-a-Koon and Cedric Blackman of Charlestown and injuring Shawn De Souza and Rajesh Persaud. He was not allowed to enter a plea to the murder charges. Williams is expected to make another court appearance on December 6.
It was last Tuesday when the man went berserk in the Charlestown community, arming himself with a cutlass and leaving a bloody rampage behind. He began his rampage by first attacking 72 year old Cedric Blackman in his home.
Ann Cham a Koon who lived nearby lost her life after she was on her way to see what all the commotion was about when the man turned his wrath on her, slashing the woman across the neck. The other two victims managed to escape.
The early morning ordeal left the Charlestown community in surprise and shock.
