CARICOM To Improve Educational System Within The Region
The final report and recommendations from this year’s Council on Human and Social Development (COHSOD) 20th meeting will be submitted to CARICOM Heads of Government within the next two weeks as the Council seeks to improve the educational systems within the region.
Chairman of the Council and Guyana’s Education Minister Shaik Baksh said the three-days of discussions could be deemed productive as members of the meeting were divided into three groups to focus on specific issues.
The chairman noted that some 80 percent of the previous recommendations put forward by the council have since been implemented by heads of government.
This year’s meeting was held under the theme “Investing in Human Resources for the Benefit of All”. Education Ministers and other delegates were required to produce a report in three areas the Tertiary Education System, Secondary Education Reform and Information Communications Technology in Education.
