A Weekend of Fatal Accidents
About 08:31 pm on Friday October 01, 2010, pedal cyclist Sewdat Laknauth age 45 years of No. 59 Village died as a result of an accident on the No. 62 Village Public Road. He was driving motor cycle CF 4432 north along the western side of the road when he struck an unknown animal and fell. He died before receiving medical attention at the Skeldon Hospital.
About 06:45 pm on Saturday October 02, 2010 an accident occurred on the Windsor Castle Public Road, Essequibo Coast involving motor lorry GEE 6177 owned and driven by Bharrat Persaud age 50 years of Devonshire Castle and pedal cyclist Mohan Lall, age 49 years, of Windsor Castle, Essequibo.
Investigations have revealed that the lorry was proceeding north along the western side of the road while the cyclist was proceeding in the opposite direction on the same side of the road, rode into the path of the truck and was struck down. He was taken to the Suddie Hospital where he was admitted and was later transferred to the GPHC on Sunday October 03, 2010. About 08:00 am today Monday October 04, 2010 he succumbed. The driver is in custody assisting with investigations.
Then at About 02:00 am on Sunday October 02, 2010, an accident occurred on the Jib Public Road which resulted in the death of Ajodha Manniram age 52 years of Hampton Court, Essequibo. Motor pickup GMM 6760 owned and driven by Mohan Manniram age 37 years of Hampton Court, Essequibo with occupants Ajodha Manniram who is his brother age 52 years and Julio Brumell age 34 years all of Hampton Court Essequibo were in the vehicle which was speeding in a southern direction on the eastern side of the road when the driver lost control and ran into a trench. The driver fled the scene while the two others were taken to the Suddie Hospital and were admitted. About 09:00 pm. the said day Ajodha Manniram died. The driver has since been arrested.
