Elections Around the Corner and Both Parties Have Not Yet Found A Presidential Candidate
General Elections are expected to take place before August of next year and the two main political parties have both found themselves in search of presidential candidates. The PPP intends to make a decision soon and that party’s central executive committee will have the last word.
Over at the PNC the process is a different one. A Committee is now taking recommendations from party groups and members and that committee will put forward its findings to the executive and General council before the party’s congress makes a final decision.
Heading the committee that’s in search of a presidential candidate is PNC General Secretary Oscar Clarke who today did not want to go into details about some of the names that have been put forward but did promise that whoever is chosen will enjoy the support of the entire party. A decision could come before the end of this month and when it does the party will step right into campaign mode.
Some party members have quietly been expressing their interest in the post but it was David Granger, former national security advisor who has found himself in the spotlight after this newscast broke the story about his nomination and support for the position.
