University Fees Not Increased
By: Yannick December
As continuing and prospective students prepare for the current semester at the University of Guyana, there are concerns about an increase in tuition fees. In an interview with this news cast, the University’s Pro Chancellor Prem Misir stated that he was not aware of any move to increase fees and addressed those concerns.
He noted that no proposals have been presented to the council and if so the Council and the Administration will have to deliberate on the issue along with the key members of the students’ body before a decision is made.
The Pro chancellor said the reports might have stemmed from a recent newspaper article where the registrar was quoted indicating the University’s intention to increase fees, this he claimed might have caused some confusion.
Registration continues at the University for the upcoming semester which will commence on the 30th August.
