DDL did well in 2009
April 27, 2010 – Rum exporter and beverage conglomerate DDL has recorded an after tax profit of over one billion Guyana dollars last year. This represents a 14 percent increase on the previous year.
The Chairman of DDL, Yesu Persaud told a press conference this morning at the Company’s Diamond location that the company weathered the international financial tsunami. It did so through strict controls.
He noted that DDL has not always been in the branded business preferring initially to sell in bulk internationally. The company has benefited however from the significant decision to sell brands on the foreign markets
Chairman Yesu Persaud indicated that quality marks survival and pointed to the high international accolades DDL products have received. As a result the company expects to be challenged by international competition. The company will hold its AGM on Thursday.
The company in the meantime is working towards going green in its operations with the construction of a state of the art Bio-Methanisation plant. The facility to be completed by the middle of this year will allow the company to redirect the waste water for processing, for the generation of clean energy.
