Jagdeo on undocumented Guyanese in BIM!
The decision by the David Thompson’s administration to send undocumented Guyanese and other nationals back to their homeland is one that has been criticized in sections of the society, even by President Bharrat Jagdeo. The Head of State at a press briefing held at the CARICOM secretariat said while he admits that the issue of dealing with such individuals is a touchy one, he is not going to stand idly by and see Guyanese treated unfairly.
The President is hoping to bring up this issue at the 30th Heads of Government Meeting to be held in Guyana later this month. He said the process of integration will have to be examined in its entirety.
While adding that Guyanese must be blamed to an extent for the problem, the Head of State believes that the Barbadian government’s reasoning for the move is somewhat lame.
Undocumented Guyanese and other nationals living on the island have up until the 1st of December to get themselves in order or face deportation.
