Former Roger Khan body guard charged for double murder
The indictable charge of murder was today read to former Roger Khan body guard Lloyd Roberts when he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Melisa Robertson Ogle.
Roberts who once served as a member of the Guyana Police was fingered in the double murder of a Pomeroon businessman and his son two months ago.
The bullet riddled bodies were discovered in a boat in the Pomeroon River in late March. The story took many twists over the past few months with a number of persons detained for questioning but who were later released.
According to reports the killing may have been as a result of a drug deal gone sour.
Roberts was remanded to prison and will make another court appearance on August 18th.
Roberts was one of three Roger Khan’s body guards who were arrested with Khan in neighboring Suriname back in 2006. The three were deported to Guyana while Khan was deported to US Via Trinidad and Tobago to the United States. Khan now awaits sentencing in the federal court in New York after entering a guilty plea on the narcotics trafficking and other charges.
