Mathilda is 113 years old
Resident at the Salvation Army women’s home for the past twenty one years, Mathilda Lewis fondly known as granny Mathilda is now 113 years old.
Suspected to be the oldest person in South America, granny Mathilda despite not being able to walk and see, said she is at the point where she is living for her God.
When asked what she believes kept her alive so long she said the grace of God and those special persons in her life.
The centenarian also had a special advice for the younger ones who are hoping to reach her age.
Granny Mathilda was born on May 16, 1896, during the reign of Queen Victoria and despite the aches and pains which come with old age she is looking forward to her 114th birthday.
