Teachers disgusted with break & enter robberies

After several cases of break and enter robberies at schools within the city, teachers have become frustrated and are calling on the Education Ministry to look at implementing  proper security arrangements at the schools.

Earlier this week, teachers at the St. Joseph High School staged a sit in protest to express their dissatisfaction with the conditions under which they work.

Apart from having to endure working in classrooms with broken windows and in some cases no windows at all, the teachers say that break and enter robberies seem to have become the norm and this is affecting their practical lessons.

While this situation is not only a concern for the St.Joseph High School, the teachers believe that  the installation of an alarm system and  armed guards would make the school more secure.

The teachers at the St.Joseph High were only willing to discontinue their protest action until a ministry official visited the school. Reports reaching this newscast stated that the ministry official did not show up on the same day but the day after the protest action.

The Ministry is now looking to institute better security plans at the school.
