Guyana remembers the war dead

Guyana joined the rest of the Commonwealth on Sunday  in observing Remembrance day,  a day set aside to pay homage to those noble soldiers who lost their lives in the two world wars. As is customary, a traditional wreath laying ceremony was held at the cenotaph in the vicinity of Church and Main streets.

President Bharrat Jagdeo, other government officials, Opposition members, members of the Diplomatic Corps, the Disciplined Services and civil society all paid floral tributes.

President Jagdeo in his remarks on the solemn occasion reminded the gathering of the sacrifice made by the fallen heroes to bring about peace and freedom globally.
