The police are investigating the murder of Trevalyn Kingston-Nicholson, 23 years of D’Edward Village, West Coast Berbice, which occurred about 1710h. yesterday Tuesday October14, 2008 at D’Edward Village.

Investigations revealed that Trevalyn Kingston-Nicholson and her husband were involved in a domestic related argument during which he chopped her mother Rolene Alexander, 46 years, to her head and then chopped Trevalyn about the body and escaped.

Trevalyn Kingston-Nicholson and Rolene Alexander were taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where Kingston-Nicholson was pronounced Dead On Arrival while Alexander was referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where she was admitted.

 At about 1245h. on October 15, 2008 the suspect came into the police accompanied by his lawyer. He is in custody assisting with the investigations.


The police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred about 1830h. yesterday at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, during which businessman 55 year old Chetram and members of  his family were attacked and robbed by five men who were all masked and armed with firearms.

Investigations revealed that Chetram’s son Devendra was parking a vehicle in the yard when he observed a white AT 192 Toyota Carina motor car drive up and the five men exited. He rushed to close the gate to the premises but one of the men kicked it open and discharged a round forcing him to seek cover.

The men then entered the building and held Devendra’s wife at gunpoint and took her into the living room area where Chetram and his wife were also held up. They demanded cash and jewellery and a quantity of jewellery and $6 million cash were handed over. During the process Chetram was struck to his head with a firearm by one of the bandits.

While escaping the armed men discharged several rounds, one of which struck a neighbouring resident Balgobin Pattiram, 51 years, to his right side hip.

Chetram and Pattiram were treated at the West Demerara Regional Hospital and sent away.

The police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred about 1930h. on October 14th 2008 at Better Hope Public Road, East Coast Demerara, which resulted in the death of Beeram Bersingh, 36 years of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara.

Investigations revealed that the victim attempted to cross the road and was struck down by a motor car. He was taken to the Georgetown Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the motor car is in police custody assisting with the investigations.


The police are investigating a robbery under arms that occurred about 2320h. last night Tuesday October 14, 2008, at Busbee Dam, Craig Village , East Bank Demerara, during which taxi-driver Dwayne Hall was attacked and robbed by three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

Investigations revealed that Dwayne Hall picked up the men in North Ruimveldt to go to Craig where he was held at gunpoint and placed into the trunk of the vehicle. The perpetrators then drove away with the vehicle, but Hall managed to escape out of the vehicle in the vicinity of Friendship, East Bank Demerara.

The men escaped with the motor vehicle which is a silver grey AT 192 Toyota Carina with registration number PJJ 4736, four cell phones and $4,500.00 cash.
